A Lutheran parish church. At 74.5 metres (244 ft) high - the largest church in Iceland and among the tallest structures in the country - named after the poet and clergyman Hallgrímur Pétursson (1614–1674).

The church was designed to resemble the Icelandic landscape and remind the viewer of the country’s magnificent glaciers and mountains. Founded 1945 - completed in 1986.
